louis vuitton by tyler okonma aka tyler the creator
since mr. creator 1st hit the scene at the beginning of the 2010’s decade his work ethic & determination has outpaced any peer considerable
his unwillingness to tone himself down or conform to temporary trends of pop culture has earned him a prevailing vision of his own
whatever he wants to do, he does, & does it with expert-level sensibility
as he adapts to success & changes in his life, so does his art; somehow it all feels so impressively cohesive & genuine to the given moment
whether its producing music, designing clothes or directing videos, his meticulous personal touch seamlessly sews together the experience
his most recent music endeavors are ostentatious & opulent: a braggadocious 90’s rap style taken to new levels of luxury
& now he has a collection of goods with the final boss of sophistication: LOUIS VUITTON
to make it even more poetic his biggest hero Pharrell Williams was the very person who granted him access
after the tragic passing of Virgil Abloh in late 2021, Pharrell was anointed to a similar role at the House
& just as Marc Jacobs first gave a young Mr. Williams a shot to guest-star in 2004, P himself is now allowing his most accomplished mentee a chance
Tyler’s collection for LV S/S 2024 carries the style of the recent work at his own “Golf le Fleur” label: a well-traveled range of practical items for a lifestyle of leisure
this chocolate canvas ties tyler’s recent motifs into the classic Vuitton DNA: a “craggy” hand-drawn monogram with a sneaky le Fleur flower, jumping airdale terrier, & soft pastels all in the mix
also, i believe, an homage to murakami’s colorful, late-2000s edition of the monogram, a rare collection which carries a lot of sentiment today
size 50L — this duffle is the perfect size for any travel, whether brief or extended & accompanied by an additional napsack
complete with a bandouliere strap for crossbody & off-the-shoulder equipping
also comes with a lock to keep out creeps 🔐
